What is Choices?
Choices is a course selection and planning guide for students and parents, published by the Toronto District School Board. It should be your first stop as a reference guide when making decisions or choosing which courses to take in High School. Choices contains important information on graduation requirements, program information, course code explanations, and course information. Reviewing the information given in “Choices” would allow readers to make more informed decisions about choosing courses for High School.
You may also ask a Guidance Counsellor for more information on a particular course. Please note that Vanier does not offer all the courses described in the Choices publication. For a list of courses that Vanier does offer, check here.
Where can I get Choices
Print copies of Choices are available in the guidance office. You may also view online PDF versions of “Choices” from the website of the Toronto District School Board.

Careers
Choosing your options for the future is an important step in your educational and occupational planning. Do your choices prepare you for college or university and your future career goals? Circle the career areas that interest you. Research more about the occupations you’d like to explore. Which subjects should you be taking? For more information and more occupations, research in the Guidance Office or access Career Explorer in the computer labs. You can also use websites like CareerCruising.com to learn more about a particular career. Talk to the Guidance Department for more information.
This is only a guide of some areas of study. Special areas of study may require special prerequisites. Please check with the post secondary institution or work place you are applying to for specific requirements.
