Co-Operative Education at Vanier

Why take co-op?

There is so much to learn beyond the classroom. Students can:
  • Test-drive a career
  • Get hands-on work experience
  • Gain the skills they need to be successful
  • Make informed career decisions.
Students at Georges Vanier Secondary School have the option of a two-credit or four-credit co-op program. The placements take place during the school day for optimal learning and a co-op teacher monitors student’s skill development. The opportunities are endless to experience work in just about any industry! Former students have had placements in engineering, medicine, law, education, as well as the skilled trades. Most students in the trades can be signed up for OYAP, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, which gives them a head start as an apprentice. Whether students choose university, college, apprenticeship or work as a pathway for the future, co-op provides the link to success.
