Get F.I.T @ Vanier

What is Get F.I.T?

Get FIT is not a fitness program. Instead, the F.I.T stands for Focus on Information Technology. It is a program that was developed to train students that want to pursue a career in the rapidly growing and changing Information Technology field.

Benefits

The Information Technology Support Associate (ITSA) program has been designed to prepare students for a world that runs on computers. It provides high school graduates with technical and business / entrepreneurial skills, and with essential workplace skills and experience.

Many employers of IT workers consider workplace skills twice as important as technical. The ITSA program’s unique business simulation model helps students develop essential workplace skills. These include:

  • Following instruction
  • Taking initiative
  • Communicating clearly
  • Solving problems
  • Functioning independently and working in teams

ITSA provides high school students with advanced standing for post-secondary studies negotiated articulation agreements.

When students have met all of the requirements of the ITSA program, they qualify for the National Certification, recognized by the IT industry across Canada.

The ITSA Program

The ITSA program at Vanier prepares students for the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+, Network+ Certification and the system Human Resource council (SHRC) National Certification via the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum (ICE3E and ICE4E). ITSA graduates have an advantage that can lead from entry-level IT positions to a broad range of challenging and rewarding careers in new IT fields such as database technology and network security. They will also have the opportunity to obtain WHMIS and Passport to Safety certifications.
