  • Read outgoing ones to remove inappropriate information

Timetable Changes

  • Organize timetable changes routines for students
  • Update numbers in classes
  • Counsel students about appropriate courses

Social Services

  • Process letters
  • Notify Social Services when student is no longer in the school

At-Risk Students

  1. “Time On Task” - counsel students when they are sent out of class
  2. Meet with teachers & students to try to resolve conflicts
  3. After each report counsel students who are failing

Grade 9

  • Grade 9 visits
  • After Grade 9 info night
  • ESL testing for Grade 9 feeder school students

Bulletin Boards

  • Maintain and update bulletin boards across from the Student Services area (you might want to check these boards for Scholarships, contests and notifications)

Grade 10

  • Registration (Course selection)
  • Contact with feeder schools (student recruitment, organizing student tours)
  • Forest Valley visit
  • Grade 10 BBQ with parents, teachers and students
  • Information night for parents of next year’s Grade 10 students
  • Organize student leaders as ambassadors
  • Grade 10 orientation
Course & Career Information Day       

  • Design & organize this day every Spring
  • Contact Colleges & Universities
  • Plan special morning timetable
  • Organize & distribute Course Planning packages for students & teachers

Scholarships

  • Identify nominees for university & community scholarships
  • Identify award winners for commencement
  • Write letters of recommendation
  • Submit supporting documentation
  • Advertise available scholarships
  • Identify award winners for recognition assemblies & graduation

Transcripts

  • Award credits & diplomas for night school & summer school credits
  • Assess new students & award EQV’s
  • Examine transcripts for accuracy

Student Promotion

  • Organize promotion meetings and process results
  • Participate in graduation planning and ceremony (prepare diplomas and awards)

College Applications

  • Personal & career counselling
  • Organize visitation of liaisons
  • Counsel students about college applications
  • Follow-up about changes & errors

University Applications

  • Personal & career counselling

Summer School Registration

  • Counsel students

  • Coordinates the Advanced Placement Program at Georges Vanier.
